The reason i am drawn to Chuck Close's work is because i feel his portraits don't always show full emotion and sometimes hides what he is trying to say... I would like to possibly interpret something along these lines into my own portraits.. Not so much the fact that he pixilates his work, but more on the side of hiding his feelings and emotions..
The image above is a prime example of hiding emotions and feelings.. There is something really soothing about not knowing the full identity and information about the person in the portrait.
The image above is slightly different to other pieces by Close because it shows a lot more about the man in the image... I also like this one because it looks like a mugshot from a prison or something, giving you the idea that he could be a criminal
The two images below are just close ups of his work.. This shows what technique he uses
