Turning text to image

After reading through the pages that we were given for our separate books about ten times lol, i managed to collect a good amount of quotes and sentences that i thought i would be able to convert into images.

These are two quotes by Captain Nemo that i think are very powerful and show the emotion that he has to deal with.

"The world came to an end for me on the day when my Nautilus dived beneath the waters for the first time. On that day, i brought my last books, my last pamphlets, and my last newspapers; and since that time i should like to think that humanity has neither thought anymore thoughts nor written anymore books".

"I am dead, Professor; as dead as those friends of yours who lie six feet below the ground".

The texts below are what i will be using to produce my images.

' Apart in special cases, there were displays of chaplets of pearls of the greatest beauty, which, under electric light, sparkled like tiny jets of flame; pearls of a pale pink, torn from the pinnate leaves of the red sea'.

' I was about to collapse when i saw a light glimmer in the murky distance half a mile away. It was the searchlight of the Nautilus'

The last life drawing class for a few weeks

I enjoyed this session, as the poses the model was doing were a lot more difficult than usual, also i thought id try and concur the dreaded drawing of hands.. Iv always had trouble with them and feet, so decided to pay special attention to this aspect of my drawing. Im a little gutted that there wont be life drawing classes for a few weeks, because i felt that i had started to improve certain areas of my drawings..

Ideas for my essay

These are still just my first thoughts on what im going to look at for my essay.. If none of these goes anywhere then hopefully by then end of the week, i will know exactly what i want to do..

Introduction into using the graphics tablets

After purchasing my graphics tablet some time ago, i never really got the chance to use it, which in turn meant that i havent got to produce anything.. Before this class started, i was looking forward to it all week, just getting to know how to use photoshop and put it into practice was what interested me.

And what a pleasure it was, Phil was very helpful and really knows what he is talking about. Even in the short space of time we had for the first tutorial i felt happy that i had achieved something and enhanced my photoshop skills. Im really looking forward to more of these classes.




Before the class i was just messing around with photoshop and the graphics tablet and decided to have a little go at designing an image from the pdf i was given. 2000 leagues under the sea...

Life drawing classes for the last two weeks

In the previous week we were learning how to draw through using lines... I find this very helpful, as it gives me a good idea of how to set out my model and get the proportions right. Normally i end up making the models head far too big..













All of the images above are from the previous week, we had to intergrate the model with objects around her. I found this a bit difficult because, once again i couldnt get the proportions right.. Also the spaces between model and object kept being out of place, to big or to small.



















In these drawings i felt a lot more pleased because they showed emotion and texture. I prefer doing sketches that involve shading and detail, mainly because the outcome is always better in my case.

Metropolis

Metropolis is a very strange and wonderful film.. I have seen it many times, and everytime i seem to find something new or different that attracts me to the film even more so.. It is amazing how Fritz Lang and his team managed to make a film like this, such ahead of its time. That is why many artists from then on have used it as a base for ay science fiction films.. Films such as Blade runner, Star wars and Superman have all been based around or had influence from Metropolis.

It is a film that will never be forgotten or underestimated, unlike many science fiction films that have tried to imitate it.
